We’ve completed the ultimate survey and we’re broadcasting the results loud and clear 📣. The members of Hawthorn’s best gym - Visions Fitness Centre - have spoken.

What our community said:

Earlier this year, we asked our members to give us their honest (and anonymous) feedback on their experience at Hawthorn’s Gym - Visions Fitness Centre. Well, we’re proud to share the results and you’ll soon see why. Of course - it’s not all sunshine and roses. We’ve got things to work on, requested equipment to buy and suggestions to reflect upon. But we wouldn’t have lasted 40 years if we weren’t expert listeners and agile in our business approach, not just our fitness prowess.

What swayed our members to join ininially?

Well, it makes sense that 92% of you noticed the amazing value of our memberships. Fair enough - we’re here to run a gym, not break your bank. Secondly - and this is music to our ears - a HUGE 86% of you reflected that the friendly and inviting atmosphere was a factor in you becoming a part of our community. This means a lot - created a positive environment is one of the reasons we do what we do. Naturally, coming in third, you also noticed our facility and equipment as influential to your decision to join, with 86% noting that down. Interestingly, our least impactful element was the variety of services we offer. This tells us that many of you are attending the gym for a specific service we provide, not a mix. Or, it may also indicate we’re not selling the availability of that mix well enough! Food for thought!

Following this - you reported that 82% use the gym only, 9% only use group training and 9% do both!

Group Training

Speaking of group training - Those of you who join us for a sweat sesh a few times a week informed us that the biggest consensus is that our trainers are supportive and engaging (87%) - which is ggggglorious to hear. You also scored us 80%+ in terms of fun classes, appropriately challenging and interesting classes! The biggest area we need to improve on is developing camaraderie between the GT crew. Nobody disagreed with this, which is good, but we note there were a few ‘neutrals’ in this category and a couple we’d like to bump from ‘somewhat agree’ to ‘strongly agree’. Noted. We’re on it.

There were some great expanded answers in this section too, such as expanded class times, using a few more of the fitness toys and more boxing!

Other services - Programs, PT, Phsyio

47% of you were interested in a chat about Personal Training. Done. We’ll share some info shortly. It’s a good time of year to bump up the intensity of your routine, try something new and get some extra accountability - all achieved by working alongside a PT.

69% of you were interested in a free workout program with our trainers. These programs are tailored to you and your goals, whether you’re a newbie or an experienced gym goer. Can’t wait to line some of you up for a fresh routine. We’ll send you some info, but please reach out if you’d like to book a session, we’re always around!

71% of you don’t currently have a physiotherapist or would consider seeing our on-site physio - Mark Merolli from Technologic Physio. Most of you reflected you’d see Mark about injury rehab, but there were also good signs that people are open to working on injury prevention and performance optimisation using some of Mark’s frontier physio tech gear!

Equipment requests

This is an exciting area and there were some great suggestions - so much so that we’ll be dedicating a blog to just this! Stay tuned.

Other fun facts:

50% of our members report attending the gym 3-4 times per week, 33% 1-2 times, and the rest attend a whopping 5+ times per week - amazing effort!

25% of our members report attending between 6-8pm and 20% between 6-8am.

Running and hiking was the most common activity undertaken outside the gym, followed by team sports, ‘nothing’, pilates and swimming. A nice mix team, great work. Special shoutout to the person who harnessed their inner Raygunn and noted they breakdance. Feel free to show us your moves next sesh.
